The 2018 ORPA Annual Conference will be located in spectacular Sunriver, Oregon this year.  As the organization sees growth, so to does our conference.  Our tracks are full, the space is beautiful, the social events are more fun, and we have a lot more to do at conference this year!  

The Annual Conference is an opportunity for park and recreation professionals of all career levels and job types to come together, learn from each other, and take home valuable information and contacts.  This year will be our largest conference yet, so don't miss your place!

What's New?

Here is a quick look at what is new this year at the Conference:

Poster Sessions

Every year we honor agencies, projects, and staff with our Annual Awards.  However, we haven't showcased the runner-ups who also contribute amazing work to the field of parks and recreation.  This year we want to rectify that and will be hosting a poster session in the Exhibit Hall.  We encourage all types of designs, plans, research, and other projects to submit a poster for review.

Leadership Academy

Built into the Strategic Plan, the Oregon Recreation and Park Association has made a commitment toward providing leadership training to staff.  This year marks the first year of Leadership Academy.  

The Academy will include three parts:

  1. Pre-conference Leadership Workshop
  2.  Attendance of Conference and Leadership Tracks
  3.  Placement in Mentorship Program for the following six months.

Space is limited.  Learn More.

If you are in a leadership role, your expertise is needed.  Please consider being a mentor.

 

Beer & Wine Wall

Raffles are great, but what if you knew you were guaranteed to take something home?  This is the purpose behind our new Beer & Wine Wall.  Purchase a bottle of beer or wine and get a bottle at least the value you spent - but maybe more!  We have generous donors who are pitching in delightful bottles for your purchase, but half the fun is that you won't know the value until you unwrap it!  Either way, you will have a delicious bottle to share with friends or bring home.

Beer and wine are available for purchase and pick up at the registration desk and during Exhibit Hall hours.

Proceeds of the sale go toward ORPA programming funds.

Early Bird Rate Ended August 31st

What Does Registration Include?

The following are included for attendees and speakers each day registered:

  • Sunday
    • The Keynote Address and all breakout sessions are included.*
    • Lunch is included if specified in registration
    • Light refreshments provided at the evening social
  • Monday
    • The Annual Awards Ceremony and all breakout sessions are included.*
    • Breakfast, Lunch, and Light refreshments at the evening social are provided
  • Tuesday
    • The General Session and all breakout sessions are included.*
    • Breakfast and lunch are provided.

*Field sessions are free to attend but require sign up in registration due to limited capacity.

The following are NOT included with registration:

  • Lodging
  • Dinners
  • Beer & Wine Wall bottle
  • Silent Auction bids

Speaker Pricing

Speakers can attend the conference for free on the day they present.  Any additional days they attend are subject to the one-day and two-day registration fees based on membership (see above).  In order to receive the free day(s), all speakers must register as a speaker.

Lodging and Accommodations

This year you will be staying in the beautiful Sunriver Resort.  There are a variety of lodging options available and all booking is done by Sunriver.

Guest Rooms

Sunriver Guest Rooms at the per diem rate are SOLD OUT!

Suites (sleeps 6 with three beds) are still available and come with a kitchen and living space.  Additionally, consider setting up your team in a condo or vacation home, and the price per night (with the 10% off pricing) may still be cheaper per person than the per diem, depending on the space (see below).

By staying at the resort, your room includes the following amenities:

  • Complimentary access to the state-of-the-art fitness center at the Sage Springs Club & Spa + $25 Spa Voucher for services (one per attendee)
  • Complimentary wireless internet in all guest rooms and Sunriver Lodge; many condominiums and homes also offer complimentary internet access
  • Complimentary use of washers and dryers in all accommodation types
  • Complimentary Resort-wide transportation service
  • Complimentary and exclusive use of The Cove Pool and 3 outdoor hot tubs (open seasonally)
  • 24-hour service and registration

Condos and Vacation Homes

As a large resort, there are additional homes and condominiums available for rent through the Sunriver Resort, who manages all properties.  This is an excellent opportunity to bring your staff and enjoy the team building benefits of shared lodging.

*the prevailing per diem in Deschutes County in November 2018 is anticipated to be $113/night for lodging.  

 

 

Annual Awards

The ORPA Annual Awards are an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of park and recreation agencies, staff, projects and designs across the state of Oregon.  

We are accepting nominations until August 24th.  Please review our Annual Awards page for details regarding submission qualifications and the award process.  

**We are not requiring winners to complete a video this year - please do not let this deter you from applying**

NEW: This year, we encourage nominations to submit a poster for our Poster Session.  This way, all amazing projects can be showcased.  For more information, contact ORPA.
