ORPA's Counties & Outdoor Recreation Section (CORS), formerly Outdoor Recreation Section provides education, training, information, and networking for parks and recreation professionals who address outdoor recreation, including county park agencies, recreation programmers, park and facility managers, park planners, and more.

The section is led by CORS president Matt Rippee, Eastern Oregon Division Manager, Oregon Parks & Recreation Department. CORS typically offers one educational workshop and one networking meeting per year.

Contact CORS president Rocky Houston to learn more about CORS and to get involved with the section.

Mission Statement

The Counties & Outdoor Recreation section serves outdoor recreation providers by offering training, networking opportunities and information sharing, partnerships, and advocacy in order to improve visitor experience, promote healthy lifestyles, and connect people to nature in Oregon.

Priorities for 2018

  1. Establish the Mission Statement, solicit feedback from section members and receive buy-in.
  2. Schedule the Next Section Meeting to include learning opportunities and networking.
  3. Focus on creating a strong track of sessions at the ORPA Conference.

The Counties & Outdoor Section does not present section awards.  However, we recommend checking out one of the many ORPA Annual Awards presented.

These awards are presented each year at the Award Ceremony Luncheon and showcase the best parks and recreation has to offer!

Annual Award Nominations are due: August 2.
