ORPA's Aquatics Section provides training, certification, networking, and information for those who operate, manage, and program aquatic facilities within the state of Oregon.


The mission of the Aquatics section is to provide networking & resources to Aquatics professionals across our state and facilitate exceptional programming with a focus on water safety.

Past Events



For 2017, in April the Aquatics Section held an Aquatic Facility Operator certification class through Interlocked Filtration Systems, LLC. In May the section held a Swim Instructor Leadership Workshop.

In 2016, the Aquatics Section held a Lifeguard Leaders Training in April.

In 2015, Aquatics hosted the Aquatic Facility Operator certification class and exam in May and held a lifeguard leadership workshop in late May in addition to holding its regular section meetings.

Led by Kory Holt of Willamalane Parks and Recreation District, Aquatics affiliates typically include recreation programmers and supervisors, lifeguard leaders, pool and facility operators and others who provide recreation services in aquatics.

Professional Associate Assessment Program

Jeff Fryer, Aquatic Director at River Road Park and Recreation District in Eugene, OR, has provided information regarding a Professional Associate Assessment Program that may be applicable to other aquatic centers looking to standardize aquatic facility and personnel proficiency.
