Outdoor Drinking Fountains - Current Status & Cleaning Protocols

Good Day Parkies,

I hope this finds you all as well as you can be in these challenging times. With this post, I'm hoping others will share:

1) What the current status of their public outdoor drinking fountains are (i.e., on vs. off); and

2) If any cleaning or disinfection practices have been instituted if they are on?

Here at the City of Portland, we've received direction from The Regional Public Health Multi-Agency Coordination Group to reintroduce public outdoor drinking fountains back into service to ensure that as temperatures rise, access to water is available for all. Thus far, I've received word from The San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department that their outdoor drinking fountains have remained on and aren't receiving any special treatment, but I'd love additional feedback to best inform our approach in-line with our regional partners.

Thank you for your time and feedback. Take care of yourselves and take care of others.

Sincerely,

Kyle DeHart
