Park Planner Palooza VI is an opportunity for Oregon park planners and designers to receive training (and CEU hours), discuss cutting-edge planning initiatives, and view innovative projects with other park and recreation planners from around Oregon in a relaxed, informal atmosphere.  We'll have a variety of presentations, discussions, and interactive sessions where participants can share their experiences, ask questions, and learn new skills.

We'll explore three focus areas:

  1. Reaching diverse audiences.  Learn innovative methods to re-envision the typical public engagement process to better plan and design community projects that foster unity and diversity.  We'll hear presentations on what has worked and what hasn't, then we'll stage our own mock engagement scenarios.
  2. Playful parks. We'll brainstorm ideas and share best practices for making parks fun and active spaces for adults and children.  Activities will cover risk reward ratios and breakouts for being creative with limited funds.
  3. Communicating with consultants and clients.  There will be a panel discussion on how to improve verbal and written communication from RFP to project management, followed by a hands-on session where we try out new skills.

You will gain the benefit of making new contacts, learn how to reach out to your constituents better, and how to make your parks more engaging and active.
