Every year in Oregon unnecessary and often preventable drownings occur, especially in summer months.  For facilities, parks & rec agencies, and public rivers that have lifeguards present, it is imperative that training is a big part of their job.  As aquatics professionals, our role is to give tools to lifeguards that best prepare them for the unthinkable.

This workshop will help equip lead lifeguard staff, head guards and veteran aquatics professionals to effectively develop, implement, and execute in-service training for seasonal and year-round lifeguard teams.

What You Will Learn

Participants will leave with a broader understanding of the in-service planning, the importance of consistency, and how to ensure positive results from their lifeguard teams.  We will practice hands on skills in the water with scenario based curriculum and explore how major certifying bodies in the industry train lifeguards on their standards of care.

We will use our peer network to help build facility specific training that will help lifeguards succeed.
