ORPA's Aquatics Section provides training, certification, networking, and information for those who operate, manage, and program aquatic facilities within the state of Oregon.

Led by Jason Amos, the Aquatics Manager at the Multnomah Athletic Club, the Aquatics Section typically hosts two to three workshops annually, in addition to hosting regular Section meetings for Aquatics affiliates to gain new information, network, and see aquatic facilities throughout the state. Additionally, the Aquatics Section presents annual awards for Lifesaving, Aquatics Programming, and Maintenance & Operations.

For 2017, in April the Aquatics Section held an Aquatic Facility Operator certification class through Interlocked Filtration Systems, LLC. In May the section held a Swim Instructor Leadership Workshop.

In 2016, the Aquatics Section held a Lifeguard Leaders Training in April.

In 2015, Aquatics hosted the Aquatic Facility Operator certification class and exam in May and held a lifeguard leadership workshop in late May in addition to holding its regular section meetings.

Contact section president Jason Amos to learn more about the Aquatics Section and to get involved.

When: Sunday, July 23rd at 4:00pm

Where: Multnomah Athletic Club

What: FREE Presentation About the Importance of Lifeguard Vigilance

We are honored to welcome Bill O’Melia from the Drennen’s Dreams Foundation who will be speaking about the importance of lifeguard vigilance and the role we all play as aquatics professionals in preventing drownings.  Drennen’s story and a lot of great information can be found on the foundation website by clicking HERE.

Bill will give a 45-60 minute presentation to lifeguards from all over the state (hopefully!) then we will be hosting an abbreviated lifeguard games for all lifeguards and aquatics professionals who attend so bring your suits!  Our hope is that we can have some fun with other professionals around the state in the water and put into practice the important topics Bill will be speaking to.

We look forward to seeing you all at the MAC club to hear about how we can positively impact drowning prevention in Oregon.
